It's "life beats art"! This production reveals a divorce from two perspectives: in the first half of the movie, the husband (Richard Burton) tells his point of view about his failed marriage, while the second includes that of his wife (Elizabeth Taylor)...By the time the film was shown in theaters all over the world...Taylor and Burton were really divorced!

Elizabeth Taylor's third husband: Mike Todd

Happiness & Tragedy Mike Todd was a powerful movie producer and developer of Todd-AO widescreen film format. In 1956 Todd produced the film for which he is best remembered, "Around the World in 80 Days". In February 1957 Todd and Taylor married in Acapulco and began a happy, but tempestuous relationship. They traveled all over the world: London, Paris, Prague, Moscow, Belgrade, Athens, Rome, Cannes, Tokyo, Sydney, Hong-Kong, Singapore...Todd and Taylor had a daughter, Liza. A few days after Taylor started filming "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", Todd had to fly to New York. Tragedy struck on March 22, 1958, when Todd's private plane "Lucky Liz" crashed near Grants, New Mexico. Taylor had wanted to fly with her husband, but stayed home with a cold after her pleas to come along were overruled by Todd!...
